John possesses an unique ability to help people get tuned into those
mental currents, resonances, and interpersonal exchanges - that we so
easily lost contact with in our seemingly imminent, yet superficial
environment. There are no strings attached to his teaching, one just
needs to be present, sensitive, and willing to share.

the expand event grew out of a two semester hopkins / neoscenes course at the Media Lab of the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Finland. the course, netculture included an enthusiastic crew of MA students. the core coordinator, facilitator, and all 'round network-queen, Mari Keski-Korsu, along with the rest of the expand crew facilitated a 6-hour live/online happening that took over the hip (and smoke-free!) Meteori Cafe in the Lasipalatsi in central Helsinki for the evening of 25 May 2001.
